Role Mission

As a Senior Designer, you'll play a key role in developing distinctive, innovative, and buildable commercial design concepts. Your goal? To design environments that deliver a strong human experience, honor our clients' vision and A+'s signature style, while accounting for the very real constraints of a project: budget, timelines, codes, and constructibility.

You'll work at the heart of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with our design, project management, and construction teams, as well as with clients, external partners, and suppliers. You'll also have the latitude to mobilize and coordinate external resources to bring your projects across the finish line.

Responsibilities

• Design distinctive layout concepts for commercial and office projects, from initial thinking through to final design deliverables.

• Translate client needs and vision into creative, coherent, and buildable solutions, while staying true to A+'s DNA and artistic direction.

• Develop and present design concepts, including preliminary plans, 3D modeling, finish specifications, lighting fixture selection, furniture, and equipment.

• Ensure the quality and consistency of design deliverables, upholding applicable standards and codes, budgets, and timelines.

• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams : including design, architecture, engineering, and construction, to ensure the feasibility of concepts.

• Coordinate external stakeholders and resources involved in projects, including consultants, suppliers, and specialized collaborators.

• Guide projects through the various design stages, anticipating challenges and proposing solutions suited to each project's realities.

• Contribute to the evolution of our design practice by exploring new trends, materials, technologies, and approaches, while helping continuously improve our tools and methods.

• You have 10+ years of experience in design, ideally within multidisciplinary teams in construction, real estate, architecture, or commercial design;

• You have experience creating concepts and designing commercial or office spaces;

• You've coordinated various resources involved in a design process: technologists, drafters, designers, architects, consultants, or suppliers;

• You're proficient with tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and Enscape, or equivalent modeling and rendering software;

• You're comfortable in an integrated design environment and understand the different realities that shape how a project comes together;

• Knowledge of or strong interest in WELL and LEED principles will be considered an asset;

• You have a portfolio that demonstrates your ability to design strong, coherent, contemporary spaces.
